Since the founding of Pathé Home, we have been the key strategic partner in product management and design, envisioning and designing the holistic viewing experience across a variety of devices, including computers, mobiles, tablets, and smart TVs.
This partnership was recognized with the prestigious Dutch Interactive Award for the best e-commerce platform shortly after its 2012 debut.
After a decade of highly successful service (with 2023 being the best year yet), we have recently completely renewed and realigned the user experience on all available devices, aiming for better alignment with the global Pathé product family and preparing for expansion into France in 2024.
The redesign focused on refining the design system to support our expansion into Europe and making the content selection process smoother to enhance user engagement and improve navigation.
Essentially, our discovery was that if the look and feel of the app resonate with the story and atmosphere of the movies it showcases, people are more likely to engage. To achieve this, we introduced a powerful new feature for automatically creating movie detail pages.
This feature uses just one piece of artwork to generate comprehensive pages and promotional materials for each movie across various devices (such as PCs, TVs, and smartphones). An algorithm analyses the artwork to select colours and styles that are then applied across all promotional content and detail pages, ensuring a cohesive and thematic design that reflects the movie's vibe.
Moreover, this method not only simplifies the workload for our content team but also enriches the browsing experience by providing visually cohesive and theme-consistent interfaces for users. It's a strategic move that has led to more effective user engagement and higher conversion rates, as the app's design and the content's essence become one and the same.
